Settings question: Sheep in a door

4 years 11 months ago #643728 by michaeldwilson
We visited a friend's sheep farm and we were inside the barn when two sheep posed perfectly for me in a doorway. Their faces were dark and the light was bright. I could not figure out the right settings to get this shot. Any thoughts? I have a Canon 77D with a Canon 180-200 lens.

Thanks!

What was your light meter saying?
What were your settings then?

I presume you mean 80-200mm lens.

Very difficult to set the exposure in a backlit situation if the moment is staring at you.
I would, if there was a grey wall to the left, right or above to the door, take a reading off that and use that.

Thanks, Hassner. Next time I'll try a few spots around the door to see what happens. I'm sure I'll get over there again some time.

Best,

Mike
