Hey guys, with the winter months approaching and colder weather with them.  What do you use in the cold for your camera to keep the battery from draining so fast?

The only time I will care for that is in my free timeI like
to spend in the wild… for loooong hours.

I then use the 10 amps power-pack from Tethered Tools.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

I can't say that it was of any help, but I kept the camera close to my body. It was an old point and shoot. I did get a little more life out of it, but I'm not sure if it was because I was able to keep the battery warm or if it's because nothing had the opportunity to get too cold. I spent the majority of the day hiking and the inside of my parka was more like a sauna, so I can't say you would have the same experience. Worth a shot though. It's probably easier to keep batteries warm than a large camera body.

1. Extra batteries is all I have and need
2.  Hand warmers that stay next to spare batteries

Butt load of extra batteries.  If snowing make sure snow doesn't build up on the camera, as this can melt and water will creep into your camera.

It doesn't matter how many extra batteries you have, you need to keep them warm until use. Thus, the hand warmer suggestion. Also, a raincoat for the camera is a good idea if you're system isn't weather-sealed.

N.B. It's "boat load". A "butt" is a unit of measurement (a noun), not an adjective.

"boat load" is an expression.  I've used it myself from time to time.  I would have used it in the same fashion.

Moving forward, keep those 'extra batteries' in your pocket
