Focus point size

When you are out shooting, do you use the smallest focus point in your camera?  When are you finding this most useful?

I mainly shoot single point BB / AF-C with wrap"ON" and
that goes for on location, studio and specially wildlife.

I leave no decisions to the camera,

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Smallest point, SAF here for majority. Action gets CAF with a 9 point focus grid. I don't use BBF.

It's my habit to shoot fairly quickly, plus I hardly ever shoot wide open, so I usually leave it large.

G'day Benny

My Panny cameras have a 49-point focus grid across the screen - and I have a rear-body button whereby I can select any of 1-central focus point, a diamond shape with 5 points or a block of 9 or a diamond of 13 points

Although all this is at my fingertip, I mostly shoot with the 5-point diamond for landscapes and general stuff, and the single point option when I am aiming for the eyes

I use AF-S most of the time - focus on the eyes (or whever is critical) then compose the image, then 'click'

AF-C and 5-point diamond is used for all action stuff, BIF and so on

Hope this helps

If I want automation I use all the focus points I can get.  If not I use manual focus.  Actually as a mirrorless use I use quite a few manual focus SLR lenses so manual is pretty common for me.
