Difference between 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio?

Why would you choose one over the other?  I'm in my drone menu and see I can toggle between them for photo size.

Thank you.

Widescreen (newer televisions/monitors) is 16x9. Old-school televisions/monitors were 4x3.

I would never shoot with less than is possible.

Technically 16:9 aspect atio means 16 inches width and 9 inches height and 4:3 aspect ratio means 4 inches width and 3 inches height. The 16:9 ratio is wider than 4:3.

I would choose 4:3 ratio for sharper images because of higher megapixels and I would choose 16:9 to fit the wide computer/TV screen.

Um, no. Technically it means a 16/9 ratio (a fraction). Nothing more. There's nothing about measurement in there.

Resolution is also independent of the aspect ratio. The two are unrelated, for prints, for images, for displays (television, phone, or otherwise).
