ExpoDisc 2.0 82mm White Balance Filter

Just to clarify, you would use this ONLY when setting a custom white balance right?   https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1073251-REG/expoimaging_expod2_82_2_0_82mm_white_balance.html

Any other time, this would do nothing?

Just to clarify, Adam, this is the greatest bullshyt these days.
Set your very capable camera on Auto WB and forget it. :)

ADDENDUM

WB is the least critical of parameter to deal with in digital
photography and the easiest to tweak in post production.

Yes, it's sole purpose is to set a custom WB value in your camera.

Assuming you would be using this outside, it's important to understand that light is constantly changing. Therefore, you would need to take constant readings, which will interfere with your workflow. Assuming you have a fairly current camera, put it on auto-WB and let it take readings. It will, most of the time, do a fine job for you.

Then, as stated above, tweak in post as necessary.

If you really want something, get a gray card or panel and take a shot of that on occasion. Much less expensive. Also more usable in static situations, such as like indoors in unchanging light.

N.B. the WhiBal cards are high quality. I keep mine with me, but it rarely gets used.

+1 zillion for the grey card… or colour chart!

In the film days the filter manufacturers had all kinds of things to sell - black and white contrast filters, color correction filters and on and on.  Now they they are down to polarizers and ND filters.  I give Expodisk a resounding "nice try."
