What is a "clean image"?

I was watching someones YouTube channel this morning and noticed the refered to an image as being "clean".

OK, not sure about what this is.  Does this mean the image hasn't been touched in Photoshop?

Nothing like that, Alfonso.

What I call a clean image is a photograph where say feathers,
leafs, litter, or any distracting object has been removed.

Anyone's definition may go I guess.

Gotcha, so that makes sense.  Thank you for clarifying for me!

It could also refer to an image with no digital noise.

G'day Alfonso

The term 'clean image' has been with us for many decades - and is the opposite for 'busy / untidy image' ... where the latter has (too many) distracting visual elements across the image itself

Generally speaking, we try for a major point of interest maybe with a backup / secondary point of interest so long as it adds to the main visual, and not cause your eye to dance between the two visuals leaving you unsure as to what you were supposed to be looking at

Within a digital environment, I have heard judges sometimes refer to an image 'being clean' without noise being a distraction. For me it is merely today's equivalent of years ago, having a print said to 'a fine grained' image vs an image showing the grain / grainy effects from whatever film stock was actually used

Personally just as 'grain' was part of a film image, so 'noise' is an integral part of a digital image ... to me it's there, so don't get uppity about it, just enjoy the image as seen by the photographer

Hope this helps
