Need helping buying first camera

2 years 9 months ago #720531 by Pork Express
Hello PhotographyTalk, I'm Glen.

I have $1500 to buy my first camera.  My son is taking over a large part of farm, leaving me with some time to take on things I have wanted to for a long time.  One of those items is to take up photography.  But to be honest, I'm not sure which camera or even brand of camera I should be looking at.

Can you point me in a direction of where I should be looking?   Thank you for your help!

Glen

I would recommend a combo you won't over grow too soon. Like a
used D750 + 24~70 mm zoom. That should put you on a right track.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Thank you, I'm looking up that camera right now.  That's a "Nikon D750" right?

G'day Glen
(also posted into another of your queries)

As a newbie ... WELCOME to the PT forum ~ there's plenty of people here to assist you at any time

You ask about "systems" - a better Q would be back to the you as the would-be photographer ... "what do you want to photograph?" and "what sort of $$ do they wish to part with?"

There are so many camera options around today ... yes there are dSLRs and mirrorless "SLRs" plus the very versatile fixed-lens Superzoom / Bridge cameras plus ............. and the list goes on

NS is a very experienced photographer and uses hi-end / hi-quality dSLRs as part of his business and our entertainment via his excellent images. I use Panasonic superzoom cameras, way-way down in cost than NS's equipment but our pleasures are very similar

I suggest also that you pop into DP Review.com and look up other possibilities for you ..... I use the Panny FZ-2500 as my hi-end system ~ have a sqwiz at it along the way :p

Hope this helps
