Why do my pictures look so noisy?

I'm new to photography. I bought tripod and decided to try it out. So I've made some pictures in the dark. My pictures are noisy. Why?

I have learned, the darker it is, the less light will get in the camera to capture the shot. So the camera needs more light, higher ISO, low shutter speed will give more noise.

If you are serious for an answer, you need to furnish much more info. Post a shot, make sure the settings are included, you will get proper advice......:)

ISO may be too high.

It's you ISO for sure. The purpose of the tripod is so you can keep the camera still so you can shoot long exposures. No need to crank up that ISO for more light, drop it down to 100 or 200, it'll just take a little longer exposure, but the result will be a lot less noisy.

I'm also learned that not only does high ISO create more noise, but lower shutter speed does too.

I don't see why posting a picture would help any more or less then if they didn't post a picture. There are only so many answers as to why an image is noisy.

Because we can see the kind of noise they are talking about. Most likely it can be high ISO noise but the some of it could be hot pixels as well. Also some of us have programs that can read the EXIF info to see what the settings are. It is most likely high ISO noise though. So to the OP if you are using the camera in Auto ISO and setting change that. Decide the ISO yourself then set your shuuter speed to get the shot. Use the highest ISO you can without noise.

I'm not sure how anyone can diagnose anything without seeing some numbers as well as some sample pictures.
