Picture Style

People have asked me, what's your style? I don't know what to tell them. I'm still new to photography and I'm not sure if I even have a style non the less give a title. I've seen wedding photographers state on their sites...traditional, photojournalism style etc.... Yea, ok but what does that mean?

Photographic style can be as individual as you are- photojournalistic is like what you see in the newspaper, Traditional is more posed, formal sorts of pix, Candid is off the cuff, informal.

Dont get caught up in some of the jargon of photography, just get out there and enjot it, if asked again just reply "I am still looking for it"

Tell them you have the style of no style. Hell I have been shooting since I was 9 and how I have shot has changed alot from when I started. I see having a style as a hindernace which is no fun and who doesnt want to have any fun.

What are some descriptive terms you'd use to describe your photographs? How do you go about creating them? What subjects do you mainly shoot?

Do your photos tend to look straight or manipulated? Do you mainly use natural/available light or do you control the lighting? Do you direct your subjects' poses, or take candids of them as they go about their lives? And so on. You can use terms that are commonly used to describe photographic style, or come up with new ones.

The definition of photography is very vague, and photographers pursue the activity for many, many different reasons and to many different ends. When folks ask you "What is your style?" they are just asking you to tell them a bit about how you do it, why you do it, and what you hope to end up with. Of course it's okay to be interested in many different styles, and everyone's style and interests change over time, but when someone asks you this question they want you to narrow it down a bit to what you are mainly doing right now.

I hope not. Wasted all that money on a dress to just burn it.
