Did you desaturate to do the B&W conversion?

When the last candle has been blown out

when i took the shot it was supose to be black and white. I'm not sure what happened with that one. That photo has not been edited at all.

You should be able to just convert it into black and white and adjust accordingly. I'm more of a PS user, i'm sure some gimp users will chime in. :)
