Shot....(gasp!) a person besides my children...

Broadened my horizons this past weekend and shot some bridal portraits for a friend. I normally stick to bugs, dogs, landscapes, critters, etc in general because they don't talk back...and people in general tend to scare me.:ohmy: Honest feed back? Thanks guys:)

I like it in black and white and i like the way she is composed but it would probably be better as a portrait shot in my personal opinion there is too much open space on the sides of her

Good exposure on the dress and you didn't crop it out of the frame. Those are the tricky parts. Well done!

Vertical is called "portrait" format, and horizontal is called "landscape" format.

Just because that's the way most people shoot them.

By shooting in "portrait" orientation, you'd have more of her and less background.

Lovely photo of the subject and the way she's looking down but w/a hint of a smile. Next time you might look at the background and try changing your vantage point a bit (or having your subject standing in a different spot) - the large tree trunk right by her isn't doing a whole lot for the photo I don't think. Instead, a tree arching overhead or that nice bench in the background could add to the shot if you do want a photo w/a good bit of the background in the picture. I do like the way either she's standing on a bit of a ridge or you're a bit lower than she is, it gives a nice perspective I think.
