Hi Colleen Miclette.

I like your subject matter here a lot !
I love old buildings.
Your image here is good (esp in B&W) yet there could be
much improvement on it though.

For example: I think you might be too close for a general
landscape and not close enough for a detailed image.
(I hope you took lots of other frames of this subject.)

To me including some surroundings may have brought
more interest to the view, ie: another buiding in the
background or surrounding landscape.
On the other hand, detail of the old building would also
be quite interesting as well. ie: doors/windows, old wood,
rusty hardware ..... on & on.

If you get my drift .... when confronted with a subject
such as this ..... shoot the crap out of it from every
angle to try and get that "perfect composition" .....
whether its a close-up or landscape.
I'm very sure there are quite a few.

Work with this OK?

Hope this helps
GT . . . .

I like the shot, could be a bit punchier but it works for me so well done, Gary makes some good points. :judge: :judge: :judge:

Yeah I'd do like Gary probably and shoot the heck out of a subject this interesting. Or go back again...

Having done a good bit of B&W film and darkroom, the digital conversions seem to me more grayscale than B&W. I've been told that can be more due to what software's being used. I learned to look for a 'black-black' and a 'white-white' somewhere in the photo (not usually in the reflections or highlights). There are exceptions but I usually find that to be my starting point in getting a good B&W photo.

You seem to have a good eye and this shot has a lot of potential.
