Interstate Fair entry. How can I make it better???

Am putting this in our local interstate fair this year. Any simple tips to make it better would be appreciated!!! Original photo was in color. Thanks for any help or comments!!!

not sure but I lose the horses head in the background on this one. Composition is ok but the contrast leads me to the bottom of the frame and not sure if that was your intent.

I think the color might be a solution to Robs comment about the horses head. The white portions of the horse appear overexposed. Was the photo taken in RAW? Does it need to be black and white for the contest. Can we see the color version for a comparison?

:agree: Eyes are led to bottom of pic.....

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.

Was shot in jpeg. Here is the color version. Cropped a little off the top and bottom to see if that helps any. The print I have done up in b&w the horses head appears to be a little lighter against the backround. Should I crop that one to try and keep the eyes where they belong!!?? LOL!! Thanks for your help!!!! :cheer:

I like the color version better as well. All that white @ upper right bothers me. I'd crop it much tighter ... top, right & left.
