Joined a photo walk today, and there are some of the odd things I found along the way...

If a person looks enough, you can spot some weird and strange things.

Someone showed up with a D850 and 300mm lens. And a7, and proceeded to complain about the weight of the Nikon. I just smiled.

I, very personally, do not appreciate the flat DR in these takes
but you surely know how to tell a story, Gary! :)

Sorry, Gary, English is not my language…
what means "huh" here?

Please excuse the idiom.

I interpret the "flat" to mean a lack of contrast, wherein the tones of an image are either somewhat even throughout, or clustered together, so as to make the image somewhat ill defined.

What i've posted above , while not necessarily having whites, and intentionally losing the blacks in one case, don't strike me as flat. Not exceptionally contrasty, no, but neither flat. I was going for moderate, but I could have certainly taken better advantage of the high end. Therefore, I'm not sure what I'm not seeing here.

So you'll have to forgive me when I don't really  understand what you mean by "the dynamic range is flat". Thus, "huh." A response that isn't really a question. Less personable than, "thank you for sharing your thoughts." My apologies for being impolite.

This translates into…

This translates into…

This is a typical case of two cultures (and google translate in the middle!) meeting
for the first time. No reason to apologize or to be hurt. I like you story telling...
that's what matters!

English is not my language… just trying to use it!
Thanks for your tolérance, Gary!

G'day Gary & 'nikon shooter'

While I also understand the issues one gets via language translation services, Winston Churchill was famously quoted many years ago when he stated "2 great nations separated by a common language"... and he was referring to the way America's version of 'English' has morphed into something quite unique. Although we Aussies have plenty of our own slang to describe things, we are regularly horrified to read / listen to many words & phrases that come from the land of the bald eagle

Gary - as to the images, I like 'em all - the mono toning suits them. Your vision with each of them shows more than "just a happy snap" mode was used while otherwise engaged in your walk :)

My congratulations
