Balanced Rock

After driving 6 miles down a rough road, and then a bit of hike and assent, one arrives at the top to find this. Then, when one discovers that one forgot one's 10 stop ND filter, one does the best one can.

One did pretty well with what one had me thinks. Also, looks kinda dangerous standing under it.

Yes, it's a bit unnerving...

One should print that photo ... big ... real big.

There are photographs everywhere. It is the call of photographers to see and capture those images.

Very eye-catching! I'm wondering--did you pop a bit of flash into the rocks on the camera side of the array, bit of fill flash? Nice detail and contrast in them!

No flash. D&B in post, along with other techniques. Which I don't recall at the moment because I don't do things the exact same way twice.

"D&B in post" worked beautifully--I'm guessing that means "dodge and burn in digital editor." :-) (I'm still learning the art of editing on a computer and sending it off for a print.) Either way, it highllights them beautifully.

I'm very new to PhotographyTalk, but I'm just amazed at how much truly excellent work I'm seeing here. Like your balanced rock--the shapes are almost abstracts until you see the detail and realize they are huge nature-made objects. Thanks!
