Remember when I mentioned my old, ancient, Canon AV-1, 35mm SLR?

Everyone now has Canon DSLR's, Nikon DSLR's, Mirrorless cameras, etc... but a while back, remember when my wife was going through one of the closets and found my old, ancient, Canon 35mm SLR with the standard 50mm f/1.8 fully manual lens still on it?

I went to the camera store here in town and they all were saying, "Oh my God... Look at that..." and things like that. Well, remember they sold me that roll of 400ASA Black & White film to try to go back in time and totally "old school", fully manual, etc... and test out the old camera.

Well, I just got the photos developed today -- actually they don't print them out anymore. Film nowadays get processed by computer, analyzed, etc... and then burned to CD. No more prints. You still get your negatives, but you don't get the 4x6 glossy prints anymore. It's all digitally done and on CD. Wow...

Here are two really neat examples from my 1979 Canon with common B&W film (sorry, I can't remember the shutter or aperture. I should have made notes of each setting for each matching photo. My fault...)

This is the South Anna River, here in Hanover County, just a bit north of Richmond, VA along Route 33 (Mountain Rd).

This is a shot of a small fishing dock out in Powhatan County, out at the Wildlife Management Area (hunting & fishing).

Love the second shot! The first shot is also nice but a bit of the highlights are burnt.

Thanks... I had wondered about that, if perhaps, I was just one f-stop too wide -- in that first photo.  I wonder if there is a way to "tweak" it in photoshop to tone it down just a hair.  Hmmmm.....

I think you can reduce the highlights and the white tones and increase a bit of contrast.
