For what purpose? If the camera fulfills your business needs then yes, it can be a professional camera. However, in some circumstances I would rather have the 5D Mk II and in others I'd prefer the 7D. Hard to give you an answer without knowing why you're asking.

According to Canon "Made to be the tool of choice for serious photographers and semi-professionals."

I think most folks would consider it more than capable as a professional camera.

EOS 7D,seems to be the only one listed as professional on the Cannon site, but like Henry says if yours full fills your needs than what more could you ask for....

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.

It is certainly marketed by Canon as a professional camera. It is their top of the line APS-C DSLR. I suspect that a fair number of the guys in vests with big white lenses you will see dodging linemen on the sidelines of the superbowl will have a 7D on the backside of the lens.

Others might have the APS-H 1D or the full frame 1Ds. In sports photography a high quality smaller sensor can actually be an advantage over a larger sensor because it narrows your field of view and allows you to be closer to the action without buying more expensive and longer lenses.

The 7D can absolutely be considered a professional level camera body.

Matt - I respectfully disagree with your comment about 7D's being on the sideline at the Superbowl. I know 4 Canon professionals that will be there working all have the same combos ..... Canon 1D MarkIV and a Canon 5D II .... One exception is that one of them uses a 1DS Mark III as his full frame body. Others that I know of use two MarkIV's. Hot rumors are that Canon will have a few 1DX's available for use at the Superbowl!

I consider it a professional grade camera.

A more relevant question might be not whether the camera is "professional", but whether the photographer is...:)

:agree: I was just going to post..any camera is professional, if the photographer is professional. If you know how to use a camera, you can make any camera look pro.

It all depends on who you ask! This last weekend I was denied access to the Supercross races because I had "pro gear" (t3i). When I asked the parking person, before I paid the $35 to park, she looked at my camera and said it would be fine. Then, after spending my $99 for tickets to get in, the guy at the door stopped me and said he couldn't allow it in.
Thank goodness I drove that day! I know that's not the context in which you were asking the question. But it is somewhat relevent, maybe!?
