interview gone bad

13 years 7 months ago #240 by baller
I have an interesting topic that I would like to get some feedback on please. I recently interviewed with a wedding photographer to be a second shooter. I told the photographer that I use a Canon and they told me that the industry standard is Nikon. Then they said it was like Mac’s vs. Pc’s (Mac’s being the Canon). Well, I happen to love my Mac and my Canon. Anyone have any opinions?

Some camera owners are just biased. I think you met one of them.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

That's unfortunate. I shoot Canon too but would be hard pressed to find fault with Nikon gear without pointing out the weak spots in Canon's gear as well.

I don't shoot Canon but don't have a problem with them. I use a wide variety of cameras. A lot of pros shoot weddings with Canon. Now the Mac issue is a whole different story :-P

Biased thinking even though I shoot with Nikon gear, no reason your Canon gear should cause a problem except with swapping lenses and flash units. Chalk it up to experience and if you find a Canon wedding photog then go with it

Sounds like the problem is with the other photographer. Ignore them.

Mac v. PC: well as much as I love my PC, most of the Pro Photographers I know use Mac. Soooo if Canon = Mac...

Nikon is the Industry Standard hey? Hmmm guess the photographers at my wedding screwed up since they were both using Canon :P

Either way, it's a Ford vs Chevy thing.. both Canon and Nikon make top notch equipment so shoot what you like. Some people are just brand suck ups :)

No professional photographer (with emphasis on /professional/) would ever say crap like this. Good riddance!

I guess someone should alert Annie Leibovitz...

I shoot Nikon, use a PC for editing and have done for many years, however the second-shooter I employ is a Canon + Mac guy and equally adamant about the superiority of his kit as I am about mine - it gives us something to talk about over lunch...lol

He occasionally gets a shot that makes me green with envy, just as I occasionally do the same.

As to Nikon being the 'industry standard': well, the guy's obviously just a GWC...

Oh and it's Ford all the way - Blue Oval rules!
