Guy With Camera - derogatory - implies 'all the gear but no idea'.
Also used by the modelling community to identify perverts people using cameras as a cover for ogling naked females...

This guy is a bit of a prince (male=of princess) I reckon. I too run a pair of Canons (60D and 550D) and have used Macs for some 20+ years. I currently run an iMac and a MacBook Pro, and for everyday use wouldn't think of going to the darkside - except I just bought a little 10inch Windows Notebook to take with me when I travel light and want something other than my iPad to download my pics onto. Also both my Mac also run Windows, as I sometimes need to run Office 2010 for TAFE assignments using its database.

And while I love my Canons, it seems to me that the Nikon 7000 etc is stiff competition to them, and I wouldn't have been bothered if the Nikon had been in stock when I bought the Canon 550D (my first DSLR)

As others have said its like the Ford v Holden thing - it is best if you choose between them based on the model, not the brand.

Several recent polls by different industry sources that I've seen show the Canon 5DII to be the most popular camera among wedding photographers by a wide margin.

If they were trying to say Nikon rules and Canon drools that's just silly. On the other hand I can understand why he would prefer his second shooter be able to use the gear he's already invested in. I might hire a second shooter that used Nikon for a single wedding or in an emergency, but for a long term association they would need to be using Canon gear so it was compatible with my gear and work flow.
