Canon 24-105mm f4L IS USM series lens for weddings?

It's fine so long as you're happy being stuck at f/4.

I actually think the 24-105 is a nice lens. Not the most sharp, but it has pretty good contrast and is flexible apart from the f-stops.

If you are going to be shooting weddings and other potential indoor venues, I would go after a f2.8.  If you have working on a budget, I'd look at used.  Try www.keh.com they have some pretty good deals.

While I'll agree totally the flexibilty of a 2.8 (or faster) lens is very useful and almost needed for indoor event shooting.  If you're good with a flash this isn't so much of an issue.  It's the DOF control I like.

I had used this lens for my wedding work, for about a season.
Then I bought Canon 24-70 f2.8 L II.
The Canon 24-105 f4 L IS is a great lens forr wedding, I cangend it because it wasn't as sharp as the newer EF 24-70.
