Actually what is the top 3 lenses that you will use for shooting landscapes?  Does the 70-200mm get into that list?

Manufacturers will tell you use their lenses but nobody is
telling "what" should come through!

I did landscapes even with a 600 mm!!! The compression
is awesome. It's all to be experienced Linda!  :P

Light is free… capturing it is not!

The answer to first question, yes. Second is subjective, third no.

Why so serious?

G'day Linda

Each of us has a different vision into whatever subject is in front of us - some will go 'wide' others will go 'narrow'. Some will seek to show it all, others will seek to highlight just a portion of the whole. It's what makes photography so wonderful ... because it's subjective

I shoot heaps of landscapes - nearly always from 200mm to 800mm of lens; I do portraits outdoors from 90mm to 300mm; and I do panos using about 75mm x a dozen or so images stitched togehter

It's all called "horses for courses"

Hope this helps

You use whatever lens is appropriate to the subject, and your goals. Sometimes that's a long lens to get to what you want. Sometimes it's a short lens. I personally like to shoot tiny landscapes (if something catches my eye) as well as grand landscapes. It all depends.

Good answers and insightful.  Thank you all.

You mind me asking if you all have a f/2.8 or f/4 70-200mm?

I had the 70-200 f/2.8 and sold it a few years ago. Didn't use it much, and regretted selling it the day after I shipped it out.....:(

I've used lenses from 14mm to 500mm for landscape work with 35mm cameras.  As with any photographic subject, use the lens that gets you what you want.
