Canon 100-400 lens

5 years 2 days ago #641064 by [email protected]
I have been comparing the Canon 100-400 lens with the Sigma 150-600 lens for my football photography. A friend allowed me to try his Canon lens yesterday and I kept changing the focusing rather than zooming before I realised they were the other way round to my Canon 70-200 lens.

Does anyone else have a problem with this?

Can anyone offer me a reason for this?

Are you talking about the Sigma or the Canon?

The control rings can get moved even within a brand. E.g. the newest Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 moved the zoom ring to the far end, on the other side of the focus ring, compared to its predecessor the VR II. Right under the sun guard if you have it mounted backwards. Forcing you to either turn the guard around, or remove it. Every. Time.

So, yeah, things can be different on each lens. Who's to say what is "right"?

Can't say either way is right - but consistency would make life a lot easier
