OMG that is going to be crazy.  My friend and I were just talking about Sony's new A7R IV and how large those files will be.  You'll need a huge hard drive and tons of super fast memory cards.

When shooting freely, at will, regardless of the outcome in
terms of exposure, focus, composition, etc IS the main pro-
blem my students are facing. In a 3 hour mentoring session,
I will harvest some 60 to 100 pictures as they will often score
well over the 500. Yes, this will need better hardware and all.

"First, make sure all capture parameters are correct including
proper focus acquisition. Second, the more you know about
your subject (in their case wildlife) the better can you guess
what will happen next and be ready on time for the action."

One of them has a new top of the line Canon 1 (don't remem-
ber the exact name but it has 20+MP) and shoots at high rate
20 or more takes at the time. "Why do you do that?" I asked.
He said: "Maybe one of them will be sharp." He fires over 1k at
all sessions.

You're right, Fran, this attitude and the high MP will be deadly.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Kind of not surprised, Canon's last set of announcements weren't taken in with all sorts of excitement.  I think their next announcement will be a big job.

EF 50mm f/1.4
EF 35mm f/1.4L USM
EF 100mm f/2
EF 70-200mm f/4
EF 18-55mm
EF 85mm f/1.8 USM

Canon's the giant that needs to be woken up.  They have been snoozing for some time and I think the EOS R is what woke them up to todays market.  I wouldn't be surprised to see no less than 4 new bodies from them in 2019.  That includes the already leaked photos of the 90D and the M6.

Canon 7D, 15-85mm, 18-55mm, 70-200mm, 100mm Macro, Sigma 120-300mm, Speedlite 430EX II

A bad day at the race track is better than a good day in the office
