Teleconverter

6 months 3 weeks ago #664544 by Melie776
I am using a Canon T7i with a Tamron 18-400mm f/3.5.
I recently purchased a Tamron 2x teleconverter to extend my reach.
I cannot get this combination to auto focus. It will attempt to focus but, never settle on the subject. The camera and lens are both set to AF. Frustrating. Thoughts?

Thank you,
Mark

The light needed to use a 2x is huge. Also, does the teleconverter have the proper contacts to let the camera and lens communicate?

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

The contacts are correct. Do you think it might be lack of light? I was shooting in afternoon sunlight.
Thanks
Mark

Very likely light loss... Are you certain that TC works with that lens?

Why so serious?

I'm through losing time on TCs.
I opted for resolution instead.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

It turns out to be a very simple matter to check the Tamron website, here .

Turns out the 2X TC is not going to work with that lens. Time to send the TC back.

Why so serious?
