Metabones adapter on Canon EOS R and 4K?

4 years 4 months ago #667463 by Photo Amigo
I subscribed to this pages YouTube channel and someone commented today that Metabones released adapter for EOS R, that would lesson the crop factor in 4k.  Do you happen to know which one they are talking about?

Thank you

I'm guessing this... https://www.metabones.com/products/details/MB_SPEF-EFR-BT1

However a safer bet would be to email Metabones and ask, this time tell them what lenses you'll be using with the adapter.....

Oh this is super.  Thank you!  I'm going to call them up on Friday seeing that I'm guessing they are closed today.  If this works, I wonder why Canon doesn't release something like this??

Are there any downsides to using something like this?

Tough to tell, It seems to be too new for any reviews, and we online shoppers depend on them a lot. Another question for Metabones maybe?

This has a lot of Canon users taking another serious look at that EOS R.  Assuming this thing works as claimed.

Canon 7D, 15-85mm, 18-55mm, 70-200mm, 100mm Macro, Sigma 120-300mm, Speedlite 430EX II

Good luck in reaching them.  I had reached out to Metabones on a completely different adapter earlier this year, and not even an automatic response was received.  No word back, no business given.

Potential game changer right there.  I bet a lot of people on the fence will pull the trigger on this camera now.

:agree:  it will be interesting to see how the reviews look on this thing.  Although for the most part, these adapters usually score pretty high.

Are there any negatives to using one of these adapters? I mean aside from the added length and weight?

Loss of some light, and extra glass for that light to pass through. Not a serious factor.

So does this work when RF lenses used on EOS R?  Or is this meant to use EF lenses on EOS R?

Found my answer, this only works with EF lenses at the time.

I think it would be smart if they release one that works with the native RF lenses.  But for those legacy users, who have a bag full of EF glass, this adapter is going to be killer.

Give them some time, they require some engineering and testing, no?
