Canon 5D Mark II critique of photos

4 years 3 months ago #672260 by amatula
Hi!
I had a chance to demo a used Canon 5D Mark II at a camera shop today which I am considering purchasing
.
The lens I used was my Canon 24 mm EF F/2.8 IS lens (currently using on a Rebel SL1).

I mostly intend to do landscape photography (and travel photography).
I took some photos, but unfortunately do not know the settings. I believe though the attached were at ISO 100, maybe aperture of 7.1, so I know depth of field won't be great.

I had questions though even considering the depth of field.

Why is the camera not capturing much detail in the shadows, e.g. the tires on the blue car?
I sense there are focus issues - the images do not appear as sharp as I would hope. Is that correct or is this just the lower depth of field... or my eyes!?

I did take a inside portrait and was amazed at the quality and the sharpness of the face (considering i rushed it) -- so that was a plus (didn't want to include here though as it is one of the store workers).

I am new to full-frame so perhaps the issues are not issues at all.
I certainly wish I could have demo'd some landscape shots (but no landscape near the shop).

Any thoughts on this camera?

Thank you for your time and help!
Annie

I just noticed if I mouse over the photos, the camera settings appear.
That is so cool! I am so grateful for this option!

Wow!!
Can you share how you got all that info? I do not see that using a right click of image. Thank you for sharing that info!

It might be a desktop app, but I right click on the image and if the exif hasn't been stripped, it displays to the right.....
Also, look for a little blue camera icon on the image, usually lower right and click on that....Voila!
