Change focus on Canon EOS R remotely?

4 years 2 months ago #674172 by Macon B
I have my camera set up near a bird feeder and I'm trying to get close up shots of the birds.  If I'm there, they never stop by and feed.  However when I set my camera there and remote fire the shutter, all works.  However I want to manually adjust focus remotely.   Which means I need to see what the camera sees.

Can this be done and if so, how?

G'day Mate

So in ruff 'n ready terms - you're trying to WiFi the image to another device then return the command to the camera to refocus. Nothing I know of will go anywhere close

How about putting the camera into full-screen multi-point focus mode and leave the camera to decide upon the best point of focus? It might not get you a full-focus shot each time, but your hit rate should be pretty good

Hope this helps

I don't think so.

When I use my CamRanger to control my D750, I'm able to tap on the screen of my iPad to focus. One wonders if some comparable capability exists for that camera?

Have you tried the Canon Camera Connect app, it will allow you to control your camera remotely via your phone
