Is there a hack to extend 30 minute video time limit on Canon EOS R?

As my title is asking, is there a way or hack to extend 30 minute video time limit on Canon EOS R?  When I'm shooting bird feeders, I need to have it running longer so birds come back.  I have it set up near a feeder, when I go to press record, I naturally scare the birds away.  It takes the birds a little while to come back.  Hence the longer recording times would be great.

Is there a way to extend this time limit, even a hack?

Scroll down to: "Total Movie Recording Time and File Size Per Minute"

This all depends on your battery life and the SD card used.

As you've discovered, total recording time isn't helpful when the camera stops after 29'30" (or whatever it's been programmed to do).

I would suggest setting up a wireless system that will allow you to move far enough away to allow the birds some comfort, but still trigger the camera when you're ready. Or get a motion detector system to do the same.

N.B. my understanding is that the time limit has to do with the stupidity of taxing video cameras different from still cameras. Given the overlap of function, we have a problem that gets solved by arbitrary limitation. I'll just pause to roll my eyes here.

All you can do is keep googling for a hack to see if one becomes available. It may be that Canon doesn't provide a way to do this. Which means you will either have to use a different approach (per the above) or get different equipment.
