Photos Getting Darker and Darker

11 months 3 weeks ago #692483 by catm0387
Hi!

I have a canon xti and the photos are all dark. I can barely see the subject in my photos. I need to use my speedlight to get light in my photos. There also doesn't seem to be much of a difference between the photos regardless of the shutter speed. For a while now I had been struggling with my photos being dark. I thought I was just doing something wrong the all of a sudden I can barely see the subjects in my photos. I will attach a few photos. I shot them in manual with a window to left on a sunny day. Shutter speeds as follows 1/80, 1/100, 1/50, 1/80 with speedlight.

Thanks in advanced for any help!

What he said.

Those are taken at f/8 and f/16, which is ridiculously tight for the aperture period, especially indoors with little light. Suggest doing some research into how aperture, shutter speed, and ISO interplay. Then, as a reference point. look up the "Sunny 16" rule to better understand how your expectations are off the mark.

Or put the camera into auto mode, take a photo, and see what the camera thinks is suitable for the situation. Then work from that.
