Laptop recommendations for my new hobby

Hey guys.  My computer needs to be replaced and I want to get something that will work well with processing photos.  I just recently got started with photography.

Do PC's or Mac's process photos best?

Are you on the move all the time? If not then why not a desktop, it´s easier to upgrade and you can choose a monitor with a lot more screen space than a laptop will give you.

Thank you for the help.  Sorry about not getting back with you sooner, I just learned how to find my old questions here.

I'm not on the move, however I would like to be able to move around in my home when working on my photos.  You do bring up a good point, perhaps I need to find a single spot to camp out and go with the desktop.

Are you running a mac or PC?

You probably don't want to do that at first. Ambient light will affect your perception of contrast, color, etc. You'll be best off starting with consistency, until you learn what to look for, and how to manage it. If you get really obsessed, you'll want a colorimeter and a room configured for processing. Someday. ;-)
