Where to find the best deal on new computer?

Who has the best deals on new PC's?  I don't suppose there are deals to be found on Macs are there?  I thought someone told me that Apple makes all new resellers to sell at set price, which would mean no killer deals on Macs right?

I got my last one (Dell) on clearance from Walmart. Dunno about the Mac game.

Is one better than the other for photography ?  I mean...…  printing the actual shot seems to be the main thing.  What you see on your comp screen is secondary .  No ?

There are three major parts of a pc to consider with photography; the processor, hard drive storage, and monitor.

The processor is going to be the number one thing to look at. Editing software, especially when editing video, requires a lot of processing power. Stick to an i5 processor, only considering an i7 if you need it for video etc. They are more expensive and are rarely actually needed.

If you don’t have any extra storage, make sure to get a large, but cheaper, secondary hard Drive, it doesn’t need to be a solid state, but solid state does help a bit with running the pc.

As for the monitor, just make sure it has an sRGB setting and perhaps a calibration option. BenQ makes a few nice ones you can look at.

Macs do tend to be expensive, but it’s usually because they come with fast processors.

I have built several rigs and am familiar with the hardware if you need any more help.

GPU can make a difference too, but just don’t buy anything really bad and you should be fine.

My favorite places to shop for computers and parts are Newegg and Amazon. Newegg is like the B&H of computers.
