Seagate 5TB external slim drive any good?

Morning.  I'm looking at this hard drive from Seagate.  Do you have any experience with these drives? I need something I can take with me and 5TB is plenty of space.

That is a well known name on the market but, for the sakes
of speed and long term safety, I went SSD

Seagate is very popular brand in Data Storage Companies. And it is almost 40 years old. This is a reliable company with its great range of external hard drives.

5TB is a lot of space.

Have you considered investing in a 2TB SSD in a USB 3 enclosure? If that's enough room, it will provide much better performance (assuming you have USB 3 ports on your laptop), and be much lighter. It will also be more robust.

What do you think about this one  https://www.sabrent.com/product/SB-4TB-PRO/rocket-pro-4tb-usb-3-2-external-aluminum-ssd/

Crazy expensive compared to the others, which leads to my next question on value?

That's not a Seagate drive.

It's also 4TB, not 5.

It's an SSD, and those are still rather expensive at that size. Just checked NewEgg, and the drive alone starts at over $500, and can go to over $1000.

Rocket stuff is overpriced. There's already been a thread here on that subject. If you need the software add-ons that they offer, then buy it. If you need a portable drive, get yourself an SSD, a case, and a proper cable, and put 'em together yourself.
