What is your opinion on Sony laptops?

I currently have a Dell laptop and need a new one and was considering the Sony line of laptops. However I have heard some good and bad about these. The good reviews are incredible and the bad ones are just that. I'm on the fence and would like to get some feedback from those that have experience with Sony laptops or can shed some light on this for me.

Sony laptops tend to be overpriced. They're repairs are often more expensive as well.

IMHO Sony's for trendy people who aren't trendy enough for Apple. LOL Except Apple actually have some decent QQ to go along with their uber-cool designs.

I don't like most Sony products. The exceptions being their video cameras and gaming systems.

A couple years ago I decided to give Sony a try and I picked up one of their 64 bit Vaio's. Within a month or two, the problems started to come frequently. Everything from the video driver failing, the computer running extremely slow, and locking up on me. I would not recommend a Sony. On the other hand, my MacBook Pro is a champ! This was my first Apple computer and it definitely won't be the last! Very fast, reliable and... it's a Apple!
