Canon vs. Panasonic

I'm looking into upgrading from my GE 500X to a newer more sophisticated but not to intimidating digital camera.  I compared a Canon SX50 to a Nikon P530.  First off the salesman informed me that they have had more customers return Nikons than any other camera.  Also, I liked the feel of the Canon and felt some of its features were easier to use than the Nikon and it had a better zoom as well.  I went back to the store today to look at the Canon again before purchasing.  There was a different salesman who pointed out the Panasonic FZ70.  It has a higher megapixel resolution and higher zoom than the Canon but was a little bigger and chunkier that the Canon, but was about $100.00 cheaper. When I was playing around in manual mode on the Panasonic, I found it difficult to adjust both shutter and aperture in manual.  I asked the salesman, who apparently owns the Panasonic, and he played around with for a minute or two before figuring that you have to go to S to adjust shutter speed and then A to adjust aperture.  Then after that you can go back to manual.  Should't you be able to adjust them both in manual?   I like the idea of a higher megapixel and zoom in the Panasonic. megapixels 16.1 vs. 12.1. Zoom  60 vs. 50.

My gut is saying to go with the Canon.  Should I just go with my gut instinct?

I'd go Panasonic, but you've listened to the salesman so far, why not ask him?.....

Why so serious?

Because there were two different salesmen.

Well, there's your problem.

Salesdroids are for facts. Pay attention to your own opinions and draw your own conclusions.

The camera should feel good in your hands, and the controls should make sense to you. It's a point and shoot; you're not going to be channeling Ansel Adams.

You already have your answer, you just don't recognize it. IMO.
