Could be. Adobe just send me a card offering CS5 for $299.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

They're also offering 80% off CS5 Student/Teacher edition products right now (Photoshop CS5 for under $40, or the whole CS5 Master Collection for $180, plus other packages at various discounts). I'm guessing those discounts mean CS6 is just around the corner.

BTW, just in case there are any students or teachers here who might be interested in this deal, here's where I saw it (Slickdeals link).

For as long as I can remember they always offer 80% off of student editions. I can't wait to see what is in store for CS6.

I supposed I should have specified that this is 80% off of the usual student price.

Thanks for this info. I've been contemplating not upgrading photoshop (CS3) anymore and relying on Lightroom and assorted plugins instead, but CS5 for $40 can't be passed up.

You need student/academic credentials and I don't know how much I trust that site either.

Correct -- you will have to submit proof. Some "academic" discounts from other software companies just require a .edu email address. This one requires proof that you are currently enrolled or employed at a school.

As for trusting the site, you'd be buying directly from adobe.com...I wouldn't have any problem trusting their site.

For anyone who isn't familiar with Slickdeals, they don't sell products or software; you never buy anything directly from their website. They just provide links to other sites where legitimate retailers or manufacturers are offering discounts.
