As title ask, what companies would be considered an alternative option for Smugmug?

I've been looking into Photo Shelter. They seem to have a really good network of printers that keep shipping costs low if you're selling prints worldwide.

I've had a few people mention Photo Shelter to me, I think it's about time to take a look ;)

What do you guys think of www.livebooks.com

Too rich for my blood! They place a lot of emphasis on matching the style of all components across your site. Which is not a biggie for me. For example, a Wordpress blog is a freebie with most general purpose hosts. Your DIY blog won't be a perfect match with the rest of the site, but free is free.

Zenfolio certainly does. However, very, very few ZF members take advantage of this.

A friend of mine was just recommending Photoshelter last week. That and Zenfolio is pretty good.

Looking at Smugmug, Zenfolio and Photoshelter, these companies really make it a tough decision for photographers to pick one. Now I don't understand all the technical stuff behind the curtain, but from what I can see on their sites and some reviews, these are the three leaders that photographers just love. I think it just boils down to which you can find a coupon code. Your in good hands either way.

My account with ZF is their Basic one, not a pro account. My main beefs are that the tracking of visitor hits is weak, if not broken. And ZF can be seriously slow at times. Unfortunately, performance issues like this are very hard to nail down when trying to compare services. You will need to live with serviceX for 6 months or so before you have a real feel for their performance. And, again, my account is Basic. For all I know ZF performance soars with their more premium accounts. May as well throw a dart!

I have never had any of those problems. I have the 2nd highest tier though.
