Photos look grainy before printing

Hi everyone

I haven't been on here for quite some time.

A client of mine is having canvases printed at a printer I know of locally and they are concerned that the photos look grainy on their screen and are a bit concerned printing them in case they come out wrong. I've printed canvases before and have had no issues. I'm just wondering if it is because the images are sharpened as I know when I print onto a dvd the layout looks grainy on my screen as well but once it is printed it looks fine. I'd just like to explain to them in the right words that there shouldn't be a problem so if anyone has a better explanation than me please let me know or I'm doing something wrong. I don't do my printing with them but with another supplier and have had no issues of how my photos look.

Thanks in advance. Look forward to the comments.

I've noticed if there has been to much sharpening, this can cause negative effects when the image hits the printers.  Do you have access to the RAW files?  I would look t those, if all looks good, that's your issue.
