Photo Mechanic quicker than Lightroom?

I seem to recall someone talking about Lightroom being heavier than Photo Mechanic and loads slower.  I saw an advertisement for Photo Mechanic, so just wondering.

It would depend more on your system, me thinks....

Why so serious?

I would not doubt it. Adobe loves to load a ton of stuff into their programs. You could always try using a trial version of it if they offer one.

Does Photo Mechanic do everything that LR does?

Not sure about that, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Lightroom has a lot more to offer than Photo Mechanic – which, depending on what system you're using, might result in slower load times.

I tried and didn't notice any differences.  But then again, I'm sure speed is relating to the machine you would be using.

What you have for a machine is always the biggest factor. If you are running one that is just above, or at the minimum specs, it will be slow. In one of my computer building forum used a single image, and then if I remember right was to do a 100% blur of a large posted image, and time it. So yeah if LR is slow for you, then most likely every photo processing program will be.

But wouldn't computer speed be a wash when comparing speed?  Kind of levels the playing field.  If Photo Mechanic was a speed 2 (rhetorical figure) on computer 'A' and speed 4 on computer 'B' (greater performance computer).  The gap between same computers with Lightroom installed would be the same, making speed relative.

Well the computers specs are always the largest determining factor as to how programs run. With that said, how programs are written to run is also a large part of how fast they run. So yes one program can do the tasks more efficiently over the other, or even just running generally.
