Is Facebook working for photographers?

I'd like to know if anyone is making an progress with Facebook as a marketing tool for finding business.  New business that has been profitable for your photography business?

I have very limited time and don't want to spend a ton of time on something to find out it's not a viable resource.

Any help you can provide would be great.

Organic or paid?

Organic - not really

Paid - hit or miss

Canon 7D, 15-85mm, 18-55mm, 70-200mm, 100mm Macro, Sigma 120-300mm, Speedlite 430EX II

A bad day at the race track is better than a good day in the office

I don't know how much new business it wold bring in independently, but the easier it is to find your business, the more likely it is that you'll find new business. Building an online presence never hurts, even if it's not a on a site where you're not incredibly active.

Well, the way I see it is this. You can't really expect people to stumble across your business on Facebook by chance. But any prospective client would be anxious to see what it is that you have to offer before signing you on for a major assignment. For a lot of people, Facebook is a convenient place to show off some of work and rack up some positive reviews from former clients. So I say, give it a shot!

Not really, it's tough to get business from social.  For me, I get better luck with referrals.

It's alright, I would spend time building direct relationships instead.  Much more productive.

There are better ways to market yourself, Facebook isn't one of them.
