Does Lightroom sharpen images during import?

When you import new images into Lightroom, does it sharpen them even a little?

It will do whatever you tell it to do, although I'm not sure the profiles allow for sharpening. A preset does, so it depends upon what you ask LR to do when importing. But you can turn pretty much everything off.

Why do you ask?

Yes, it does. If you are using Lightroom without a preset, it will sharpen the amount of 25 and 1.0 on the radius. That's standard out of the box.

So, if "Apply During Import" / Develop Settings is "None", does that really mean none? It's been so long since I installed LR, I've forgotten... I seem to recall changing this at some point.

News to me, where are you finding that control in LR?  I  have it open right now and can't seem to find where you could alter the sharpening during imports.

Thanks

Yes. RAW files have the Sharpness set to +25, this is the default; there are good technical reasons why most camera's RAW images need a little sharpening. JPGs are sharpened by the camera before you ever get your hands on them, so sharpening by your software may not be needed.
