Does Facebook apply filters on your photos during upload?

I'm uploading photos so a client can view on Facebook and the colors are much more duller than what I had in Photoshop.  Is Facebook applying any filters to photos during upload?

No, it recompresses them greatly. To reduce bandwidth requirements. And.... you must make sure your upload is using sRGB for the color space. That is your only choice on the web. Nothing else works.

So: most likely you saved your image using AdobeRGB instead of sRGB.

Also suggest you begin with an image at least 1440 on the long edge, at a high quality setting. Or a PNG (which doesn't use lossy compression).

If you want a better answer, perhaps provide more detail.

Facebook compresses your images which may affect the quality if you dont upload at the
supported file sizes:
Images must be the following supported pixel dimensions to display the best quality.
720px / 960px / 2048px on the longest edge.
I always upload @ 2048px
Checking the HD quality box when creating albums or using the app will definitely improve image quality.
If you check your uploaded image back in Photoshop you will notice that Facebook has also applied it´s own version of sRGB - however there should be very little or no visible difference if you follow the process..

I seldom post images on FB for the reason that they apply algorithms that negatively affect the image quality ...

If you are viewing on a calibrated monitor and apply the px settings + HD upload i mentioned above then there is no perceptible difference in quality.

All the above is so true, they compress the living @#$% out of what you put on there.
