Best software to retouch skin

5 years 10 months ago #584357 by Kenya See
I always find skin so tough to work with.  Is there a software that specializing in skin only, in all colors and does a very good job retouching?

Which is considered the best?

Thank you

Portrait Pro. It's 50% off right now at $60. I'm not affiliated with them in any way.

Dang, they normally charge $120 for that software?!  It's good, but that price seems a little rich for what the software does.  $60 seems like a more reasonable rate.

For this kind of work, I first develop RAWs in Capture One
using their cool skin tone tools and finish in Affinity Photo.

I second the PortraitPro program. It is specialized and works great.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

For those of you who are into free software, just use Gimp's wavelet decompose. See here for what it is, and how to use it:

It might take more time than other ad hoc solutions, but it give you full control over the result.

There are a lot of them; now it can be done both with the help of Photoshop and with the help of online services.

See, if you don't want an artificial look, see if you can ap-
proach the frequency separation technique that is featu-
red in many softwares. I use the one in Affinity Photo.

For fixing skin blemishes, I have always used the patch tool in Photoshop. For whitening eyes and teeth, i've always used the masking tool in Lightroom which is tedious, but it works best for me. For a refined magazine look, you’d better send photos to portrait photo retouching   services and edit them for about $5 per photo. All these photo editing softwares like Fotor, Pixlr, PaintNet can’t show good skin retouching. I have two variants: Lightroom for basic photo editing and Photoshop for everything else.
