Exporting from Lightroom and sharpening option

If you have added clarity already to your image from within Lightroom.  Sharpening during export essentially will do the same thing right?

No. Clarity is micro-contrast. Typically, sharpening is not the same.

There are usually three phases to sharpening: selective on the image, on creating an output file, and when printing. The application of clarity might affect how much, but not whether-or.

Absolutely!

Further more, one has to explore in what order to apply
given effects as they may well have very negative effects.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

I personally only do very minor tweaks in LR and no sharpening. I do 99% in photoshop. For social media stuff (snaps) I do about 95% in lightroom

I'll usually leave this alone myself, as I thought this was doing something I had done already in post.  Are you opting to sharpening when exporting Gary?

OP- Good post turns out I have interest in this now too!

Yes. I take the default "standard" for both digital image creation and prints.

I'll suggest that it comes down to the right tool for the job. I find that LR makes most of the typical PP rather easy to accomplish, along with adding a lot of features (e.g. asset management) that PS can't do.

Yeah, I have to say I don't mess with the sharpening during export.  If I need to sharpen, I do it from within LR.
