Adding wet look with Photoshop

5 years 2 days ago #640537 by Barbara Fite
If you wanted to make something look like it was wet with Photoshop, how would you do that?  I have been playing with flower photography last few days.  While all my outdoor shots are crummy (because of the wind).  I picked a couple flowers and brought them indoors to mess around with.  But they are kind of plan with out interesting backgrounds.

So, I just experimenting at this point.  How would you make a flower look like it just got wet with Photoshop then?

Thank you!!

Barbara

A) get yourself a misting bottle, and maybe an eye dropper. (Water droplets are easier with a glycerin/water mixture.)

2) A background is what you make it. Not that this is anything special, just an example.

Great isolation Gary!

That photo is great example of using negative space and perfect lighting!

Sorry OP, here's a clip that I found -

If you're indoors, you can do so many things with backgrounds. Twice I have grabbed color paintings and placed them in the background and the bokeh blurred them enough that all you see is a swirl of colors.

As Gary showed, the use of a flash can black out the background too. Make sure ISO is on it's native setting (usually 100) when you do this. Otherwise, the ISO can start trying to pulling things out of the background and sometimes contains heavy shadows that may not look good.

That's what I was thinking, spritz it with water... Or try going outside after a rain, after the breeze/wind has settled down that is! lol

That's the challenge doing a still life, how to make a couple of flowers interesting. I was just looking at a wine bottle and that could be a possibility, or try displaying them on a book with an interesting cover, or in a glass/crystal vase in a window getting the sun. Try searching for 'still life' in art and see if you can find resources with some ideas.
