Pricing unedited photos

Hi there,

I'm hoping someone can help me answer a pricing question. I have a client who is asking for 30 unedited product photos of various products on a regular basis. The products will range from something like cosmetics to furniture. I expect most of them would have a plain backdrop and studio lighting. i'm based out of Berlin, Germany and I use my at-home studio, while for larger products I would have to rent out a studio for an additional 23 euros per hour. Is it wise to have a half day rate (I was thinking 200 for >4 hours) and a full day rate (350 for >8 hours) or something like that? Or would it be better to have an hourly wage in this situation? Any tips are greatly appreciated :)

Thank you,

G'day Maria

Firstly- Welcome to the photo forum !! ~ there are many here who share your enthusiasm and are willing to share knowledge and enjoy your skills

There are multiple issues here -
a) why does the client want unedited / ex-camera images?
b) does this mean you are 'only' a camera operator? and
c) someone else will take over and post-process the images in a manner you are incapable of?
d) are you capable / incapable of editing your images?
e) what do you do with other clients?
and so the list goes on

Insofar as costing, others here with studios will offer you additional advice. For me - 'keeping it simple' you need to do some calculations on the annual costs for your studio, then break it down to day and 1/2-day, then add 20% - it gives you some space to lower a price during bargaining. Any agreement MUST also include 'plus-expenses' which will take account of the 1001 small things you often need to do outside the studio to make it all come together

Hope this helps
