Exporting 1080 video into 4k in FCPX?

When you are done with a video and export it, you have a number of options.  One includes 4k.  Now if you made the video with 1080 videos, will FCPX attempt to increase size of exported file or just keep at 1080?

The output format of a video has nothing to do with the format of the source media. In the same way you can us HD source and produce SD output, you can use (e.g.) SD input and produce 4K output.

The quality of said output will depend upon the source media being upsized. You can figure out for yourself whether that will go well for you.

Hey thanks for answering, I think you partially got my question and perhaps I could have one a better job asking.  What i'm trying to understand, is whey you try to export/save a 1080 made video clip as a 4k, will the computer attempt to upsize it?  Does it attempt anything? Or just save it has a 1080?

Thanks again!

The software you use will render it appropriately. It's up to the program. The result will be a 4K file. There won't be anything 1080p about it.
