Remove 32 bit Adobe applications after updating to macOS Catalina?

4 years 6 months ago #662389 by Jim Photo
I just updated my Macbook and re-downloaded with a fresh install.  I'm  using Go64 and it shows that I have eleven 32 bit Adobe applications that clearly can't run on new OS.  So can I delete these then?

Yes you can delete those files, your computer won't be needing them

so the new OS won’t run 32 bit apps??

What happens if apps aren’t 64?

Apple, because MacOS is a typically badly designed operating system, will no longer allow 32-bit applications to run. Only 64-bit applications.

And since there is no other choice, your second question is answered by your first, me thinks.

The response to the OP is: they won't run, therefore provide no function. Delete them. If there is not contemporary version of said applications, then one is out of luck.

I'll take a wack at this, why Mac OS badly designed?  I thought with the limited number of problems with this compared to PC, this would be the better choice of OS?

My point of reference is Enterprise-class servers, and an operating system that showed it's possible to support both 32- and 64-bit binaries without much trouble. So when I fault MacOS (and by association BSD Unix) it's simply a matter of perspective.

I will also point out that being well-designed and being well-implemented aren't the same thing, and one does not imply the other.
