Relative vs Absolute RGB

It is possible, in given PP softwares, to select the way the said
app will react to all 3 the colour channels and thus influencing
greatly the way a file is brought up to the screen upon opening.

This selection is done — in my app — through the image tab in
the prefs panels where absolute (RGB) or relative (R,G,B) op-
tions are possible options as it will be expressed in the Levels
Tool histogram.

The RGB Channel Mode
The RGB Channel Mode — or relative mode — is an option that
will look at the data and read it as it was written by the camera.

Here, the WB is respected as recorded, each channel being repre-
sented as indicated by their respective and relative values of all 3
channels (RGB) in the file. At first glance, the file on screen looks
pretty much as shot in terms or colours — warm or cold.

The R,G,B Channels Mode
The R,G,B Channels Mode — or absolute mode — will rather take
the same channel separately and take their respective level within
the pre-fixed limitations of the DR — set in the prefs panel as well.

One can observe the cooler look of the resulting WB since all chan-
nels were represented — according to pre-fixed DR limitations —
in absolute values; thus ignoring the recorded ones — ignored but
not deleted since RAW files can't be altered.

Light is free… capturing it is not!
