Feedback Request - Comp Entry

Hi all

My workplace is holding a photography comp, just for fun, so I grabbed an old photo and spent some time touching it up. Can I ask if anyone would do anything differently with it? Maybe with the cropping for example?

Forget the cropping it is all in the new colours where, as
latin characters writer/reader, the oriental means not much
but I respond — in case of lack of story telling that I can
understand — to the colours… and that I can cope with!".
Light is free… capturing it is not!

The proportion/angle has her too close to the wall for it to be believable that she can see the letters up that close.

It seems obvious to me that the letters were photoshopped/edited in because I don't see any actual lights - no vintage neon, no led lighting, etc. so what's causing those lights? I suppose this would be fine if they're accepting photo illustrations. But the size of the letters or them even being there to me isn't believable.

I think it takes a light touch when editing to brighten lighting without oversaturating it, and this seems to have gotten overdone.

Hi Sharon

The letters are not Photoshopped in, the original photo taken on my phone at Taiwan Airport is shown above too (the less coloured one)

Not sure how you got that the letters were photoshopped in. It seems quite obvious they are backlit white glass or plexiglass. It's odd how people see things so differently.

I do take the point about the oversaturation though. I'm deliberately aiming for a Cyberpunk vibe to go along with the theme of "colour", I think for a standard photo it might be overdone but what if I'm attempting to deliberately stylise it? Still too much?

I would still think about cropping it. Maybe the crop works, maybe it doesn't. I just prefer simpler images with less distractions. This is a decision you will have to make. Maybe others will chime in with suggestions. Good luck.

Thanks Shadow, I have actually got a cropped version I just wasn't sure about it. I'll post it tomorrow when on my work PC so you can compare

Sure didn't look real to me, which maybe is the editing? Was she just walking by or posed there? I really can't tell. Something sure made me think it looked edited in.

Graphically, the three blue strikes from the ceiling could be
be attenuated, even removed, as they don't contribute to the
story and visual pleasure.
