Hey guys, when exporting an image from Lightroom to be uploaded for a large print, is saving as TIFF or JPG best?  If not these, then what?

thank you!

There are no advantages to use tiff, jpg at the right size and
resolution will be just fine… and take less space on your drive!

Have a good time!

Aren't JPEGS getting close to RAW files in terms of quality?

Not the correct question, Paul.

To this question, a computer in the 1960 SF movie, I would go:
"…does not compute… does not compute… does not compute…"
shaking and wobbling a cross the room, spewing smoke until it
would explode or just turn itself off with a grimacing interface.

Raw files are a "gibberish" kind of collected data at shutter release.
No image but only data… pretty much like a latent film.

JPGs are the rendition resulting of the conversion of the said data
into an image.

G'day SJM

As viewing systems and printing systems all use JPG, common sense suggests that your final image must be in JPG format (there are exceptions from pro-level labs / printers)

TIF format is a loss-less format used for many years within the printing industry , and by us as an intermediate format between the camera - the computer in editing, and the printer.

@Paul- a decade or two ago there was only one JPG quality level ... these days we are offered 3 sometimes 4 (super-fine, fine, normal, web) sort of thing so that we can choose what best suits our purposes

Hope this helps
